Connecting With My Nerdy Side

(Caveat: If you know me, you know I don't have a nerdy side. I am a complete nerd with an occasional normal side).
A lot of the art that I showcase on my website and my Instagram represents the landscape and architecture work I do. The southwest in general, and the Sonoran Desert in particular, is replete with incredible vistas and history. There's just so much local beauty to paint.
But the images that speak to me the most are the ones that represent the silliness and excitement of the 1970s and 80s when I was a kid. I grew up with The Muppets and M*A*S*H, Star Wars and Star Trek, and of course Dungeons and Dragons. The iconic characters and settings of those properties spark so much joy in me. I love recreating them with my own spin.
The best part about recreating those beloved characters from the 70s and 80s is diving headfirst into that time warp of vibrant nostalgia that left a permanent groove in pop culture. I think every Gen-Xer like me has their own favorite character from the cartoons, movies, toys, and TV of that era. For me, the comic book superheroes of the day will always take the top spot, but close behind them will be the iconic monsters and magic of D&D.
If you have a favorite wizard, warrior, droid, alien, crimefighter, two-fisted archaeologist, or gelfling that you'd like to see on canvas, let me know!
