This weekend is the much publicized Paint Arizona Day. It's a statewide day of plein air painting, stretching from Bisbee to the Grand Canyon. Painters from all over the state will be meeting up to paint together in the great outdoors, capturing their unique visions of the beauty of Arizona.
I'll be painting from 8 am until 5 pm on Saturday at Honeybee Canyon in Oro Valley. The Honeybee Canyon trailhead starts at Honeybee Canyon Park, which has a short paved path and bathroom facilities. When the trail ducks under the overpass, the trail becomes sandy, but it's still fairly accessible.
I plan to paint part of the day about half a mile into the trail, and for at least some of the day, I anticipate going a mile or so into the canyon to get to the petroglyphs.

It may be a pain to trek my painting gear a mile into the canyon and back out again, but I think it'll be worth it. If you feel like joining me for a day of plein air painting, feel free to come along... It'll be a free version of my Plein Air Paint Along experience!
